Don't be Too Kind to Your Bosses

Hi All,

I hope you are having a Great Day so far! If you are.... fantastic if not this will bring a smile to your face or at least food for thought from an email I just received.

This story tell us not to be 'too kind' to our bosses.

Here it goes:

There's this Jaga Singh who was working for a multi-millionare as a house guard.
One day, while the millionaire was driving out to catch an early morning flight to
conclude a business deal, Jaga Singh ran out from the guard house and stopped
the millionaire's car just right in front of the gate.

He said 'Sir! Sir! Are you going to board a plane?'

'Yes, why?' asked the millionaire.

'You had better cancel the trip. You see, last night I dreamt about the plane going to crash.'Curious over the early morning fright that Jaga Singh had given, the multimillionaire decided to cancel his trip.

'You better be damn right for this is a million dollar deal.'

The following day, there was a news report that the plane which the millionaire was supposed to take had indeed crash landed.

'Thank God, I cancelled the trip', the rich man said realising that what Jaga Singh had said had come true, he summoned the Singh to see him. When the guard was called that morning, the millionaire gave him his salary and FIRED him.

WHY did he do that?

Think first.....

Use your brains.....

Use your brains!!!

Still no idea?

Come on..... it is quite easy.....

Still drawing a blank???

Just imagine you are Jaga Singh and you have saved your boss's life.....

OK lah, since you do not want to 'use your brain' like Jaga Singh before you talk to your boss.

Just scroll down for the answer.....

ANSWER:

Jaga Singh was supposed to guard the house at night.

NOT to Sleep and Dream all night!

So, GO BACK TO WORK, and don't try to save your boss's life.

It's not worth it! Always save your own ass first!!!

Here is another reason why you should be your own BOSS!

Cheers,
Mark

Positive Thinking and Gratitude.

I received this poem today and it is a good way to motivate yourself on a Monday. Enjoy and Have a Great Week!

"Any day I'm vertical
is a good day"
...that's what I always say.

If you ask me,
"How are you?"

I'll answer, "GREAT!"
because in saying so,
I make it so.

When Life gives me dark clouds and rain,
I appreciate the moisture that brings a soft curl to my hair.

When Life gives me sunshine,
I gratefully turn my face up
to feel its warmth on my cheeks.

When Life brings fog,
I hug my sweater around me
and give thanks for the cool shroud of mystery that makes the familiar seem different and intriguing.

When Life brings snow,
I dash outside to catch the first flakes on my tongue, relishing the icy miracle that is a snowflake.

Life's events and experiences are like the weather -
they come and go,
no matter what my preference.

So, what the heck?!
I might as well decide to enjoy them.

For indeed,
there IS a time for every purpose
under Heaven.

And each season brings its own unique blessings."

Be Kind to Animals

Owning a pet has become an in thing. Kudos to those who are responsible and spend time and effort looking after the pets like their own child. Some people do go overboard by sending their pets to animal spas and grooming services. But that is better than those who neglect their pets and even abuse them.

Recently, there has been a spate of incidents involving people abusing dogs and other animals. Why do they do these things, God only knows. How does someone bring themselves to harm another living thing which has not done anything to hurt you? Abusing animals is punishable by law and people need to be made aware of these things.

We have to teach our children the value life. We have educate them when they young. If they care for animals you can be rest assured that they will care for people. Many individuals have been trying valiantly to bring this message across. But it requires collective effort. We should play our part.

Please lend your support to:

1) Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA)

2) Animal Concerns Research and Education Society (ACRES)-

Collectively we can save and protect the animals around us from abuse & cruelty!

Giving and Showing Gratitude

Have you heard the term, "the more you give the more you will receive". It is so true. You just need to look at Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, Bono (U2), Oprah Winfrey, Peter Lim ( Remiseir who donated S$10 million to Singapore Sports Education fund), and there are many more unknown individuals who have done it that you may not have heard. This wonderful people keep getting more wealth when they actually don't need it. So they give it away and they keep getting more.

But you must give to the right cause. You should not give money to people who do not deserve it because they will use your gift in wrong ways that will only cause more harm to themselves and more heartache for you. It is better to teach these type of people "how to fish" rather than helping them by giving them money.

The other thing is saying "Thank You" and being "Grateful" is so important. It is nice to hear someone says thank you for things that they receive. It makes the person giving it want to give more. For example, when you give way to car and the driver in the other car say thank you, you feel good and want to give way to more cars.

My wife and I are particular about our children saying "please" and "thank you". We don't want our children to take it forgranted that they will get everything they ask without appreciating the person giving it. It is sad that some kids are trained by or allowed to boss their maids to do everything for them. The maids are there to make your lives easier. Not to be your slave. Be grateful that this person has sacrificed their family to come and work here. Granted, some maids are not easy to put up with. We have to learn to manage them. If not you have to change another maid.

It is these things that makes the world such a wonderful place to live. When people share instead of hoarding. People love and care for each other instead of killing. If everybody can ask themselves "How can help you today" or "How can be of service to you today", rather than "what can I get out of the person in front of me", this world will become a even better place to live in.

Thus, giving and being grateful for what you receive will bring more goods things in our lives.

Just a thought that I thought I should share with you.

Love All, Serve All.

Cheers,
Mark

Work is a Means to an End!

I am sure many of us have heard this before......."Work is a Means to an End"! But how many of us know why we working or what we working for. Some people are slaves to their job putting in 12 hours a day and even 7 days a week.

Is that why we are brought into this world.....to work? That's sad. Even if you love your job, there must be some kind of balance to your life.

I have two friends in Malaysia who are lawyers. I have known them for more than 10 years. They used work day and night with very little time to party or meet up with friends. They used to complain about working long hours and yet they continued doing so. Fortunately, whenever I went up to Malaysia, we managed to meet up and go for dinners and drinks. I used to advise them to make more time for themselves so that they can have a life. I even dispensed this advise over emails whenever I had time and I complain that they only have time to come to Johore for their cases and no time to cross over to Singapore because they are so busy even though I had made at least 10 trips to meet them. The good news is that both these friends have settled down. One friend has a 3 year old son and ironically she is in Singapore and she now has a shorter working hour as a in-house lawyer. The other friend had her wedding in Bali (the most exotic wedding I have ever attended) and she is expecting her first child. She is now lecturing. I am so happy for them. These are things that bring meaning to your life-friends, happy marriage, children, your pets, etc. Not work as they have found out and I did long time ago.

I am not saying you should not work. You should work. Just don't let it control your life. Take a break from work if you had worked continuously for at least a year. You need to recharge. You will be surprised what it do to your outlook of life and your productivity at work. And you should take time to exercise because Health is Wealth. I had a friend in the F & B line who died of heart attack recently. He worked hard and he played hard. He was only 43 years old. When I hear about these things I wonder if it is worth sacrificing your life for work. Stress is a major cause of illness and pain in our body. So, please take good care. Minimize the stress in your life.

Here are some things to consider:-

1) If you hate your job- Sack the company. Look for a better one.

2) If you hate your BOSS!-Sack the BOSS. Find a new BOSS in another company who is not BOSSY.

3) No Time- Make time or Find a New JOB!

4) Take a Break from your JOB!- take a week or two off every year or every 6 months to recharge. Travel. DO CHARITY WORK!

5) Take up a Part-Time Course then change industry so that you have a better pay and more time to spend the hard earned money well.

6) Become your own BOSS- start while you on your current job (if you can) and build it. Once it has grown big enough you can quit your job. May not be easy as you think but you have to start somewhere. Just don't wait too long.

7) Have Business on the side that provides you passive income so that you do not have to work so hard in your current job. Rental from investment property and network marketing are two options you can consider according to Robert Kiyosaki.

I hope I have given you some idea about what work means to me. Don't quit just because of what I said. You have to make an informed decision on why you are doing what you are doing. Plan your life (read my April 2008 article-"You Are the CEO of Your Company: "ME Inc."). You work to feed yourself, have roof over your head, buy clothes, go for a movies, save for RETIREMENT, share some of your wealth with the less fortunate and basically have a Good Life. Enjoy the life you have properly. Don't be a slave to your work.

Have a Great Life! Don't Worry Be Happy!

Cheers,
Mark
